Economics and Human Geography (L1L7) will explore the nature and impact of cultural, social, economic and political processes from the local to the global scale. Students will acquire a wide range of skills and knowledge that employers are increasingly seeking. This BA Economics and Human Geography scheme studies two topics that mutually inform one another. As part of the Aberystwyth Business School students of this BA will investigate a wide range of economic issues that impact on every-day life (including the creation of employment such as inflationary pressures, international trade issues, the process of business competition, innovation and growth, the protection of natural resources and government policy-making). Alongside this, students will study Human Geography, investigating the ways in which human societies define, make and shape place, exploring the spatiality of economies, cultures, and politics. The Economics component of this programme will engage with topics which are fundamental to understanding not just the operations of business and commerce, but the organisation and functioning of societies. This course will cover a variety of grounding principles and key study skills in the first year such as: Economic Principles And Skills, Mathematics for Economics and Finance, and Statistics for economists. In Year 2 and 3 students will advance their understandings of economics through courses in Macro- and Micro-economics and Econometrics.
