The Educator in Childhood Social Services first cycle degree programme aims to provide the professional competencies required by anyone wishing to become an educator for nurseries or a childcare worker in various community pre-school services and family support services such asplay groups and parent-children centres.
In order to acquire these professional competencies, the degree programme offers basic theoretical skills(pedagogical, psychological and social, anthropological) to provide knowledge of childhood conditions in modern society and of the main existing models of pedagogical and didactic intervention, as well as operational skills functional to the practical implementation of educational activities in the service sector. These competencies are the core of the first year of the degree programme, during which students study the disciplines of educational sciences(pedagogy, psychology, sociology and anthropology) focusing on specific content for children, as well as passing a test of knowledge of the required language. In fact, at the end of their training, graduates in Educator in Childhood Social Services also have a B1 level in a foreign language.

In the second year of the degree programme, special emphasis is placed on competencies related to teaching and planning in order to allow the professional to acquire adequate tools for educational planning and programming, as well as a high degree of skills in analysing both the individual and collective educational needs of children. Finally, the degree programme provides competencies that enable professionals to communicate with children's families, supporting parents both directly and indirectly. During this year, students will improve their pedagogical, psychological and sociological competencies, focusing mostly on the specific context of children's schooling from 0 to 3 years of age and on supporting their families.

During the third year of the degree programme, students further develop their specific educational competencies related to child development in a holistic way and conclude their training by studying areas related to their own interests for further study and analysis.

As part of the programme catalogue, special emphasis is placed on competencies related to the internship experience, which must be carried out in one of the various types of childcare services in the region and with the operational knowledge arising from the vocational training workshops planned in the second part of the degree programme.

This programme is available in Italian.
