Undergraduate

3.2+
7+
Usually a good 2.1 honours degree classification (or equivalent) in drama, performing arts or a related subject. Evidence of sustained engagement with drama in a variety of forms (theatre, movement, performance). Relevant motivation, maturity and ability to reflect on self in relation to others. Two references, DBS Enhanced Level check and Occupational Health clearance will be required. Minimum of 1 year full time (or equivalent) clinical/field work experience preferably with children, adults or older people working in a caring capacity including in teaching, social work, mental health and community drama in a professional or voluntary capacity. Relevant motivation, maturity and ability to reflect on self in relation to others and emotional robustness. If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 7.0 (Academic level with no individual score being lower than 6.5) or equivalent English Language qualification as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University. To receive an offer of a place on this course you must be successful at interview. As this is professional therapy training, if you’re shortlisted we'll ask you to attend an interview that will include experiential dramatherapy group work with other candidates, as well as an individual interview and discussion with lecturers. This will allow us to consider your suitability and readiness for training, but also give you the chance to experience some of the teaching methods we use on our course and decide whether they’re appropriate for your needs.
Preparation For the individual and group interview, you’ll need to be ready to improvise and work in drama workshops as directed on the day, and to discuss your motivation for, and expectations of, becoming a dramatherapist.
References Two satisfactory references are required. These should be: relevant clinical experience – paid employment or voluntary and/or academic if recent graduate and/or other professional.
Video conference interview In exceptional cases, we may consider interviewing you by video conference. You’ll only be offered this if you give clear reasons why it’s impossible for you to attend the interview and audition, and if you have access to professional video conferencing equipment.
