The linguistic and cultural diversity are also defining elements for BBU, uniquely individualising it not only among Romanian universities, but also within the European context. Indeed, in the confined family of multilingual and multicultural universities in Europe, BBU becomes specific through the fact that in its Charter, has set up lines of study in Romanian, Hungarian, and German. From a linguistic point of view, BBU has one of the most complex systems in Europe: each student can freely choose the language in which one will study (Romanian, Hungarian, German, English, or other international languages), and the study programs may be followed in full in the chosen language.BBU is one of the five members of the Universitaria Consortium (the group of elite Romanian universities) and is affiliated, inter alia, to the International Association of Universities, European University Association, the Santander Group, and the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie. BBU also signed the Magna Charta Universitatum and has partnerships with over 210 universities in 50 countries.
