History of Art and History with Foundation Year (BA)

This wide-ranging BA in History of Art and History with Foundation Year will take students from the ancient world through to the present day exploring social, cultural, intellectual and political histories to develop your understanding of visual culture within these contexts. Students will acquire the analytical skills and critical approaches that enable them to investigate texts, images and historical documents for themselves, and develop their competence in both visual perception and historical interpretation. Before proceeding to the main degree, students will spend their Foundation Year preparing themselves for a degree in the arts by improving their study and research skills and gaining arts-related knowledge and understanding. Students will have the opportunity to take a language module as part of the Foundation Year. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, students can automatically progress on to the three-year, full-time evening study BA History of Art and History.
