Mathematics with Statistics (BSc)

Applying mathematical and statistical methods to commercial and scientific problems develops a rational approach to problem-solving. Birkbeck’s BSc Mathematics with Statistics provides excellent training in the methods and applications of mathematics and statistics. It covers pure and applicable mathematics, statistical theory and data analysis. Students will use software packages to develop their understanding of the subject and to help them solve problems. The BSc Mathematics and BSc Mathematics with Statistics programmes have a common core of modules for the first two years. It is therefore possible to transfer between programmes during this time should their preference change. Graduates can pursue careers in business and finance, education, research and analysis or statistics. This degree can also be useful in becoming a statistician, mathematical research scientist, operational researcher or secondary school teacher.
