The Clarkson MAT program is the right career choice because graduates consistently have a success rate of over 95 percent on the rigorous New York State Teacher Certification Exams and a job placement rate of 100 percent for the past four years. Our students graduate with confidence and hands-on experience in the classroom built during an individually selected, full-year, mentored teaching residency included as part of the program.

The MAT Adolescent Education and ESOL program is a dual degree and licensure-endorsing program that prepares you for the New York State teachers certification in a content area (chemistry for example) at the 5th through 12th grade level, and English to speakers of other languages at the pre-k through 12th grade level. Candidates may choose from the following content areas: biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, technology (K–12), mathematics, English, social studies, business and marketing (pre-K–12), and computer science (pre-K–12).

Clarkson University is an internationally ranked research university located in Potsdam, New York in the US. Approximately 4,300 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled here across over 50 rigorous academic programs of study. Teaching is split across the School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, Institute for a Sustainable Environment, Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering and the Clarkson School.

The school is named after Thomas S. Clarkson, a local entrepreneur who died accidentally in a nearby sandstone quarry, risking his own life in an attempt to save a worker. Clarkson Memorial School of Technology.

In addition to its reputation for great career outcomes, innovative solutions to real-world and theoretical problems at the nexus of science, engineering, technology and business, the university is also well-known for the performance of its women’s and men’s hockey teams.
