This course teaches the essentials of economics and politics, building a very good grounding to analyse the problems in international development. Students can explore a set of selected topics in international development to enhance their skills on the subject matter or build up more statistical techniques. Students can apply their knowledge to issues in international development through studying the following topics: Microeconomics; Political Economy; Econometric and Statistical techniques. Essex's recent Master’s level graduates have gone on to work for a range of high-profile organisations in the international development field, such as United Nations and The World Bank. Many of Essex's researchers also provide consultancy services to international organizations, helping students to develop research for today's society as well as informing their teaching for the future.
