This course was formerly named BA Therapeutic Care. This course is intended for those who are interested in learning about relationships and personality development, or intrigued by people’s behaviour, understanding what causes people to act as they do and what can lead to emotional or psychological difficulties. This course is suitable for students who want to pursue a career in a caring profession, whether education, health or social care. This course includes a Placement in each year of study. There are no exams in this course. Topics covered in this course include: Child, adolescent and adult development; Attachment theory; Working with groups; Psychodynamic counselling; Anxiety and depression; Trauma and violence; Psychosis; Looked after children; Eating disorders; Creating effective learning environments; Organisational dynamics and systems theory; Therapeutic communities; Psychodynamic interventions in non-clinical settings. Please be aware that students entering Year 3 from October 2020 will be taught at our Southend campus.
