Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) is offered in collaboration with TAFE SA through Adelaide College of the Arts. This course provides elite professional dance skills and theoretical knowledge. Students will cover areas such as dance technique, devised movement practices, dance project realization, choreography and stage performance, and emerge with all the makings of a successful professional dancer. This course is only available for domestic students. During the first year, students will be introduced to technique classes in both ballet and contemporary dance, and theory classes in anatomy, kinesiology and music. This will help them to develop a broader understanding of movement in dance contexts. On the second year, students will continue with studio work to build stronger skills in classical and contemporary technique, as well as conditioning, choreography and repertoire. Students will develop understanding of dance genres and epochs, and investigate performance theories. On the third year, this degree will cover further study into the theory of performance and the theatre to enhance students’ technique and performance skills, including through a placement or internship.
