    The devouring stride of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, since its inception in 1998, has been exemplary, culminating in transforming itself into an icon for women empowerment. The University vows to devise sustainable systems and state-of-the-art infrastructure to enable the Indian women to dawn the role of future leaders, managers, researchers and productive team players in the field of Science & Technology.

    Currently the undergraduate programs with intake of 73 students per branch, are offered in the department of Computer Science & Engineering (two batches), Electronics & Communications Engineering, Mechanical & Automation Engineering, Information Technology,  Computer Applications and Architecture (intake as 40). A special consideration is given to girls from Economically Weaker Sections and other categories as per the Government of Delhi rules.

    Students have innovated and developed many projects in their respective departments and brought laurels to the university. They have made a low cost, eco-friendly Sanitary Pad Incineration, formed a blueprint for an earthen sanitary napkin incinerator for sanitary napkin disposal, made from terracotta and concrete. Project successfully implemented in a village of Delhi. students have developed Android Application for segregation of solid and non-solid waste and won State Level Internship Award for contributing more than 100 hours for Internship in a village of Delhi.

    In Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2018), 2nd runner-up award of INR 50,000 was won by students team of IGDTUW. The Future Award amounting to INR 1 lakh for designing a futuristic solar electric car weighing 110 kg was also achieved by IGDTUW Students team, during an electric Solar Vehicle Design Championship.

    An outstanding student made the university proud by winning a cash prize of INR 50,000/- for Best Intern Award at the State Level by MHRD, for Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme 2018. Our other students were the only Indian women hackathon participants to be invited to Facebook Annual Conference, F8 to participate in their hackathon. She got two prizes, Global prize award of USD 10,000 and another regional for the region of Senegal of USD 3,000.

    The Professional courses at Undergraduate level offer emphasis on system analysis, design, manufacturing and professional practice. The university has been granted approval to start the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from the next academic year, thus offering flexibility and mobility to encourage students to specialize in streams of their choice through a system of professional and free electives. Presentation of a Seminar, Industrial Training/ internship in addition to the course work and further carrying out a thesis/dissertation are necessary components of undergraduate degree.

    The University strives to foster among its students a strong desire and capacity for continuous learning as well as self-appraisal to develop sterling human & professional qualities and a strong sense of service to society through designed curricular, co-curricular activities and congenial campus environment.The  Industry Institute Interaction Cell and the IGDTUW Anveshan Foundation supplements at teaching, training and elevating the students to an independent level where they can achieve higher level of excellence and professionalism.
