University information

Students planning to apply to study at the Gulf University for Science and Technology should review detailed requirements for admissions and then submit their online application along with the required supporting documents. 
Placement tests are offered throughout the year. Applicants must submit their completed application, application fee and all supporting documents before the start of the semester. This is a guide to the usual steps required to apply for a course at GUST:  
  1. Completed GUST Application Form
  2. Official high school graduation diploma and transcripts.
  3. An IBT TOEFL* score, IELTS score, or the results of a recently taken GUST English Placement Test (Accuplacer™).
  4. The GUST Mathematics Placement Test (Accuplacer™) is compulsory for all applicants.
  5. Personal statement.
  6. KD25 non-refundable application fee.
  7. Three recent passport-size photographs.
  8. One certified copy of an officially-recognised secondary school certificate.
  9. A photocopy of the civil identity card and the passport which must include a valid residence permit for non-Kuwaitis. 

* The iBT TOEFL result must be from a centre in Kuwait or from a center in an English-speaking country.

Buildings and grounds 
The Mishref Campus offers modern facilities for learning including industry-standard laboratories, lecture theatres and classrooms as well as spaces for students to socialise and play sports.  
The buildings throughout the campus are designed to reinforce the splendour of the many contributions made by the Arab World to modern architecture and design.  
Currently accommodating up to 3,400 students, the Mishref Campus was completed in 2007 and plans are in place to expand this to more than 5,500 students.  
Highlights of the campus include: 
The Concourse  
A three-storey building which has become the focal point for academic and social activity at the heart of campus life. Features include two 125-seat lecture theatres, prayer rooms and the University Library. 

Sports facilities  A 25-metre swimming pool plus gym, squash courses and other sports facilities are all housed in the University’s Physical Fitness and Health Center. 

Community Development and Training Centre  As well as providing facilities to those on campus, this conference and training centre provides for the community too. It offers a 500-seat and a 200-seat auditorium in addition to exhibition spaces.

Student life

As well as its growing reputation for research and employability, GUST is known for providing an active social life with over 15 student clubs which host activities throughout the year. These all provide opportunities for students to develop their communication, social and leadership skills in a setting beyond the classroom.    The Office of Student Life at GUST has a vision to “create a dynamic and healthy learning environment” to prepare graduates for a positive future, empowering them to achieve both personal and professional goals. 
Faculty staff at GUST come from strong academic backgrounds, and many have practical real-world experience that they actively use to provide students with a dynamic educational experience. GUST has an active Alumni Office who support a vibrant community of more than 9,000 alumni.

GUST offers a range of scholarship opportunities:  
Fully-funded government scholarships that cover tuition expenses for the duration of a GUST programme.  
GUST Scholarships cover full payment of tuition fees (maximum KD 2,250 per semester) or a specific percentage of tuition fees. Terms and conditions apply.  
In addition to these scholarships, GUST offers a number of additional scholarships including the Mission Scholarship for GUST graduates from Kuwait to complete master’s and PhD programmes in the United States. 
Study abroad scholarships are also available for GUST students to complete summer study programmes at George Washington University in Washington D.C. and at the University of Missouri-St Louis.
