The Hertie School of Governance (HSoG) considers itself a professional school for public policy at the heart of Europe. As a fully state-accredited private university located in Berlin, Germany, the HSoG cooperates with universities and other academic institutions in Germany and abroad. Its activities are centered around the questions of how to maintain and strengthen the central achievements of modern statehood ? security, the rule of law, individual freedom, democratic legitimacy and social justice ? in a changing world with new, partly post-national forms of statehood. The HSoG trains highly qualified young students for public leadership positions. The two-year Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a multidisciplinary program based on economics, law and political science, combined with a practice-oriented, problem-solving approach. The presence of international students is regarded an important feature at the HSoG, adding to the diversity of experience for both students and staff. There is an extensive support system for international students. Also, the HSoG has an extensive alumni network to maintain contacts with former students from all over the world and to offer friendly, personal and practical advice.
