Dual Degree of J.D./M.B.A.

  • Degree Other
  • Study Level Bachelors
  • Duration 24 months
Enrollment in the joint J.D./M.B.A. Program enables a student to obtain a J.D. degree from Chicago-Kent and an M.B.A. degree from IIT Stuart School of Business in approximately three and a half to four years of full-time study or five years of part-time study. A solid understanding of the business world can be invaluable in many areas of law, especially for corporate attorneys or legal/management consultants. Students in the joint degree program combine the management expertise and business skills of an M.B.A. with a law degree. Eligibility and Requirements Joint Program students may apply up to five approved M.B.A. courses taken at the IIT Stuart School of Business toward the requirements for the J.D. degree. An M.B.A. Course Request for J.D./M.B.A. Students form (available in the Registrar's Office) must be completed before the course begins for each M.B.A. course the student intends to apply to the J.D. requirements. No credit may be applied toward the J.D. degree for courses completed prior to the commencement of law studies. To receive J.D. credit for a course, the student must earn at least a C in the course. Students receive 2.4 credit hours toward the J.D. degree for each M.B.A. course successfully completed, up to a maximum of 12 hours. If a student takes fewer than five M.B.A. courses, the student will receive 2.4 credit hours per course, rounded down to the nearest whole number. The M.B.A. course grades will not count in the student's J.D. grade point average. Students are required to complete 12 M.B.A. courses to earn their M.B.A. degree and should work with their IIT Stuart Graduate Academic Advisor on their program of study.
