The Master of Health Administration offers skills and experience needed to lead and manage projects, health agencies, services and programs. Students will be prepared to advance into senior management in the public and private sectors in general management and in specialist roles in areas such as project management, quality management and the management of particular health professions. In first year students will get an introduction to the Australian health system's key structural components, their interrelationships and relevant policy issues. Students will learn about financial management in health services, in particular, systems of finance and budgeting, and people management including industrial relationships and organisational leadership. In second year, students will conduct a hands-on research project designed to deepen and integrate their skills and knowledge in public health, health promotion or health management. Students will gain practical experience, applying analytical and problem-solving strategies to real healthcare and public health problems. The range of electives allows students to further explore health economics and finance, health law and ethics, and process redesign. The subject timetable is flexible to enable students to balance study with other commitments. The Master of Health Administration is accredited by the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM). Graduates of the Master of Health Administration may apply for membership with the ACHSM. Membership may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree.
