This double degree combines the clinical and business sides of health care, with an emphasis on clinical coding, health data analysis, health informatics (including e-health) and management. In first year, students will learn the foundations of human bioscience. Over the next three years, students will specialize in health information systems with subjects covering everything from anatomy, physiology and medical terminology to health informatics, management of electronic health information systems, electronic medical records, coding and classification of diseases, health data analysis and health information ethics and law. In second year, students will complete a 5-day placement, followed by a 15-day placement in third year and a 45-day placement under professional supervision in the fourth year. Students can choose to finish their degree after 3 years with a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Medical Classification) which allows them to work as clinical coders.
