The Bachelor of Science degree offers the knowledge and skills in finding solutions to today's biggest challenges, like protecting endangered animals or developing new ways to treat disease. This degree has up to 14 majors to choose from including biochemistry, biomedical science, botany, chemistry, environmental geoscience, genetics, mathematics, microbiology, molecular biology, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical chemistry, physics, statistics, and zoology. Students will study a range of subjects to give them a foundation in science and related disciplines. Then they will either select two science specialties or combine their science major with studies from another discipline, like business. The Chemistry major in the Bachelor of Science is accredited by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI). Membership may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree. The Statistics major in the Bachelor of Science is accredited by the Statistical Society of Australia (SSA). Please refer to the handbook for further details. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science with a Statistics major may be eligible to apply for accreditation with SSA as a 'Graduate Statistician'. Professional accreditation is subject to specific academic requirements and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree.
