The Moscow State Academy of Choreography commonly referred to as the Bolshoi Ballet Academy is one of Russia’s oldest dance education institutions. The Academy was founded by Catherine the Great in 1773, and in 2016, it was designated a Cultural Heritage Landmark of Particular Significance.
The Academy offers major educational programs of all levels of professional dancer training:
Intermediate vocational training (integrated educational program for the “Dance Arts” area);
Bachelor programs;
Master programs;
Internship and traineeship programs;
Doctor programs;
Supplementary education programs (refresher courses and professional retraining);
Supplementary generic education programs for children within the Academy’s field of specialization (including the “Ballet Arts” pre-professional training program).
The Moocow school of ballet has had a profound impact upon evolutions of classical ballet in a variety of countries including the USA, Japan, Korea, Finland, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, etc. In addition to students from Russia, the Academy hosts students from more than twenty countries.
