Moscow State University of Education (MSPU) is a federal educational institution that offers many higher education programmes for graduate, undergraduate and postgraduate students. The University established in 1872 is one of the oldest and the most prominent Russian teacher-training institutions. It was the first Higher Education Establishment for women at those times. The University became one of the winners in All-Russian Competition for Higher Educational Institutions in 2007 implementing innovative educational programmes within the prestigious National Project “Education”. The University was included in the State List of Especially Valuable Objects of Cultural Heritage of the Russian Federation Nation by the Decree of President Dmitriy Medvedev in 2009. In 2015 as a result of processes initiated by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science the University was joined with Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities. The University has 11 institutes and 4 independent faculties, 110 departments, 12 educational and research centers, 50 scientific schools, the library with over 2 million volumes. Branches of the University are located in 9 cities of the Russian Federation. MSPU productively cooperates with more than one hundred universities from many countries.
