During the programme, our mission will be to provide to the future engineers a sound basis in disciplines concerning structures and constructions (and their interface with the environment), as well as in disciplines related to the study of hydrogeological risk mitigation as it is an important aspect of the assessment of natural hazards. Problems tackled during the programme include landslides, floods, and earthquakes. We are determined to introduce students to innovative active research which has been carried out at the university. The region of Lecco offers a number of real-life case studies which offer to the students open field laboratories. In this sense, our students will be able to get a hands-on experience and tackle existing issues in addition to the theoretical knowledge introduced during lectures. The programme will be held under the recognition of and in cooperation with territorial bodies as well as professional organizations working in the fields of territorial management such as the Civil Protection. The goal of the programme structure is to provide graduates with both the typical professional skills of Civil Engineers and an enhanced interdisciplinary background, which in turn, favours a larger flexibility for their future professional life.

The "Laurea" (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) programme is an undergraduate degree obtained after a three-year course of study and aims to provide a solid foundation in the core scientific subjects as well as more specialized, professional training. During the third year, the student is expected to acquire work experience by doing an internship at a company or studio. Once the student obtains the "Laurea", he/she can either directly enter the job market or continue his/her studies by the applying to the "Laurea Magistrale" (equivalent to Master of Science).

For more information on the available programmes and on the application procedure, please check the university website.

The "Laurea Magistrale" degree (equivalent to Master of Science) is obtained after two years of postgraduate studies and aims to provide rigorous, advanced training in specific sectors.

Once completed, the Laurea Magistrale programme gives access to a Doctoral programme.

The majority of Politecnico di Milano Laurea Magistrale programmes are taught in English.
