This postgraduate program seeks to graduate professionals specialized in Health Communication who contribute to the study and implementation of participatory health communication strategies, as well as the organization and production of specific communication processes.

Today we are certain that there is still a long way to go to achieve justice and equity in the exercise of the right to health. The current crisis has shown us the tensions between intercultural relations and the limitations of the health paradigm, which is an alternative, but it is not everything. We are witnesses of how epidemics linked to the loss of food autonomy and its consequences, chronic diseases (such as obesity, hypertension); also those related to environmental imbalance and the medicalization of daily life. In addition, it has become evident that the communication system that allows the implementation of health policies and practices is in a state of abandonment. The low awareness of the transversality of communication makes it difficult to implement public policies,

Professionals who make decisions, both in the public and private sectors, need to update their technical vision of communication to contribute to the solution of social problems related to health. The PUCP takes the lead in this regard and proposes a space for dialogue to promote interdisciplinary action, an essential condition to understand and assume communication as a complex and comprehensive process that goes beyond the image and information in the mass media.

Communication is made up of complex processes at various levels and its management is based on permanent research-action. The continuous collection of evidence on communication practices in health will allow us to understand the changes, identify the interpretative dissonances to weave the threads of dialogue and, in addition, promote that citizens be managers of their own well-being and that of their community. This knowledge will contribute to the strengthening of respect for cultural diversity and the knowledge present in the medical systems that coexist in our territories.
