The Amazon jungle, with its highly biodiverse ecosystems and recognized genetic wealth, in addition to the cultural and linguistic diversity that occupies it, constitutes two thirds of the national territory. It is home to more than three million inhabitants, making up a mosaic of sixty original ethnic groups and other identities that are the product of international and national immigration and miscegenation processes.

The understanding of our history and the construction of the identity of our country cannot do without this vast and complex territory.

Andean migration has generated occupation processes, making the sociological reality of the Amazon more complex. Beyond our region, the basin of the Continental Amazon extends, which reaches an extension of more than seven million square kilometers and includes nine countries.

Looking at the Amazon requires taking into account the context of the entire ecosystem basin of the largest humid tropics on the planet and analyzing to what extent its condition affects the world as a whole.

Master in High Amazonian Studies program seeks to provide comprehensive training by creating spaces in which to respond to the challenges of addressing a reality as broad and complex as that of this specific universe.

This experience, articulated from the different Amazonian knowledge, will help us move towards a new scientific conception of man in his relationship with space and with biological diversity, in cultural and linguistic interaction, facilitating intercultural dialogue.
It will try to see the sociocultural dimension in its entirety, which includes the religious aspect, an essential part in shaping the worldview of the peoples.

But our country, even more so the Amazon, cannot be alone or have proposals of an individual nature, isolated from the other surrounding countries. Geopolitics and articulation with other countries and international institutions and organizations (OTCA, CAN) will be one of the preferred topics in the Master's and diploma programs.

The program aims to contribute to the strengthening of regional institutions in the face of sustainable human development.
