The Master of Information Technology develops a breadth of knowledge and deepen your understanding across varying aspects of IT. Fields such as data science, business process management, process mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, virtual and augmented reality, business analytics, data visualisation, and the Internet of Things continue to evolve rapidly.  Business investment in these areas continues to grow, as does the demand for expertise in these areas. In response to emerging industry trends, QUT has revised our postgraduate IT offerings. In our Master of Information Technology, we are offering three new majors, and have updated our existing majors to align with those emerging IT industry trends. We offer one of the largest range of study specialisations within a postgraduate IT degree with eight majors, ranging from those connecting IT to business domains.

Minimum academic requirements

2 year program

  • A completed recognised bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale). 

1.5 year program*

  • A completed recognised bachelor degree in information technology with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale); or
  • A completed recognised graduate certificate in information technology with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale). 

1 year program*

  • A completed Australian honours bachelor degree in information technology with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale); or
  • A completed recognised graduate diploma in information technology with a minimum grade point average of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale). 

*Note: As part of QUT's application for admission process, you will be automatically assessed for the 1.5 year or 1 year program, if eligible. If you wish to be considered for the 2 year program only, please indicate this on your application form.
