Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology integrates a 500-hour professional placement during this course which is completed at QUT Health Clinics and external locations including hospitals, local government and private health providers. Thus, students will have access to industry equipment in the biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, strength conditioning and clinical skills laboratories and consultation rooms. In first year, this course introduces the application of knowledge of the human body in a sport and exercise context. During this period, students will undertake studies in exercise psychology, coaching, physical activity and health. In second year, students will continue with studies in exercise physiology, motor control, skill acquisition, resistance training and biomechanics. Later on students will learn how professional practice is evolving with studies in related areas including nutrition and research in exercise science. In the third and fourthe year, this course concentrates on clinical exercise physiology, specifically understanding pathology and management of chronic disease including cardiovascular, metabolic, neuro-musculoskeletal, injury prevention and rehabilitation, oncology and mental health. In the final year, students will prepare for professional practice with placements.
