   The research Master's programme in Philosophy at Radboud University is the ideal place to acquire the training for a career in academic philosophy. You will gain the logic and reasoning skills needed to create well formulated arguments. You will also gain experience designing, conducting and presenting your research. You can choose between eight specialisations:

History of Philosophy (Research)

As a student of the Master's specialisation in the History of Philosophy at Radboud University, you will be part of a tight knit research group that works at the forefront of the world's research on the relation between philosophy and science. We offer a broad choice of courses, seminars and tutorials in the history of philosophy, covering all ages of the history of philosophy and science.

Metaphysics and Epistemology (Research)

The Master's research specialisation in Metaphysics and Epistemology focuses on age-old questions of being, truth and reality from a contemporary viewpoint. You will draw from other philosophical fields like Philosophy of Mind, Social and Political Philosophy, and Philosophical Anthropology.

Philosophical Anthropology (Research)

The Master’s specialisation in Philosophical Anthropology (Research) at Radboud University is a unique programme that studies the philosophical significance of questions related to approaches in phenomenological, psychoanalytical and gender and feminist theory.

Philosophical Ethics (Research)

As a student in our Master's specialisation in Philosophical Ethics (Research) at Radboud University you will learn about the ethical presuppositions that underlie contemporary socio-cultural debates from a hermeneutical perspective, engaging with philosophical texts from key authors. You will be affiliated with the Centre for Contemporary European Philosophy.

Philosophy of Language and Logic (Research)

Applications for both Bachelor's and Master's programmes open up 1 October. The deadlines are as follows:


Admission requirements for Bachelor's programmes

High school diploma
Your diploma must be equivalent to a Dutch VWO diploma or a higher-level diploma. Additional requirements may apply, for example, a diploma from an academic stream, a specific level/course, or a certificate in Mathematics.

Command of the English language
When applying for admission to an English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Radboud University, you need to have sufficient command of the language. There are various ways to prove this, sometimes through your diploma or citizenship and in other cases through a language test certificate (TOEFL iBT, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)).
