Seattle Central Community College was founded in 1966 and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Seattle Central is part of the Seattle Community College District, which serves all of metropolitan Seattle and its surrounding communities, and comprises the largest community college district in the state, educating nearly 55,000 students each year.
