The MA in Ancient Narrative Literature is a dynamic and unique programme. Its deep exploration of ancient Greek and Latin narrative literature is informed by globally renowned research expertise.
You will concentrate on fictional and factual ancient narratives in a variety of literary forms, including, epic poetry and historiography, and the novel. You will also have the chance to begin or continue the study of Greek or Latin.
Key concepts of literary and cultural theory will enable you to investigate ancient texts from the full chronological and geographical scope of classical antiquity in creative new ways. You will have the opportunity to develop such skills as using narratological approaches, understanding generic conventions and how authors exploit them, and analysing allegorical dimensions.

2.1 degree required in Ancient History, Classics, Classical Civilisation, English Literature, Modern Languages or a related background or equivalent.   For applicants whose first language is not English, we require IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent English test.
