The Bachelor of Fashion Design Technology (Honours) is designed in a unique format where the programme is a combination of standard design and sewing curriculum injected with technological components in both learning experience and module contents. The degree will provide extensive knowledge to students to use the latest technology in designing. Fashion design using the most recent technology advancements is clearly important in today's modern world. Students will become skilled fashion designers with fashion technological knowledge in the ever-evolving fashion world. Students will study the fundamental processes of design theory and practice through problem- and studio-based learning. In experiencing the design thinking process, students will be able to analyse, evaluate, and put forward design solutions that are innovative and creative. The modules prescribed will provide the student with the necessary skills sets to conceptualise and create aesthetically sound outputs that are creative, functional, entertaining, engaging and communicable.

Prerequisites

  • SPM / O-Level with Pre-U or Foundation: Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 5 credits with a pass in Bahasa Melayu and History in SPM for entry with pre-university or foundation qualification. (Except for UEC).
  • SPM / O-Level with Diploma: Pass SPM / O-Level or equivalent with 3 credits with a pass in Bahasa Melayu and History in SPM for entry with Diploma qualification.
  • Pass Visual Test: (Taylor’s Foundation in Design, Diploma in Design and Foundation in Natural & Built Environments are exempted from the Entrance Test)
  • Portfolio Assessment: Students without a pass in SPM or equivalent Art subject must pass the Visual Aptitude Test (VAT) or Drawing Test or have a design portfolio review.

Entry Pathway

  • Taylor’s Foundation in Design (FID): Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
  • Taylor’s Foundation in Natural and Built Environments (FNBE): Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
  • Other Taylor's Foundation: Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
  • Taylor’s Diploma in Interior Design (DID): Pass with min. CGPA 2.00
  • Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM): CC
  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC): Pass with min. 5Bs
  • A Levels: Min. grades DD
  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM)/SACE International: Min. ATAR 60
  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU): Min. average of 55% in 6 subjects
  • MUFY: 50%
  • Foundation and Diploma from other institutions recognised by Malaysian Government: Min. CGPA 2.00
  • MOE Matriculation: Min. CGPA 2.00
  • DKM/DKLM/DVM: A pass in DKM/DKLM/DVM in suitable fields with a min. CGPA of 2.50 subject to Senate approval (Note: The HEPs are to conduct screening and provide necessary guidance specific to the discipline of the programme); OR A pass in DKM / DLKM / DVM with a min. CGPA of 2.00 and at least have two (2) years working experience in a related discipline.
  • Other Qualifications: Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis

  • Taylor's EET: Overall Score 4.0
  • Taylor's IEN: Level 2 - Grade C
  • Pre-U/Diploma: Completed Pre-U/Diploma that was conducted in English
