Bachelor of Music in Music Education/Jazz - Voice Concentration with Jazz Studies

The bachelor's degree program in Music Education concentrates on developing music educators at the undergraduate level who will be ready for successful entry into the teaching profession. The Bachelor of Music in Music Education program prepares students to teach, through an integrated sequence of academic coursework, music skills refinement, and pre-service internship in urban and suburban educational settings. Successful completion of this degree program is one of the qualifications required to apply for teaching certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Certification allows the graduate to teach general music, vocal and instrumental, in grades PreK-12. Coursework in applied music, conducting, theory, history, keyboard, instrumental and vocal pedagogy, music education, internships and externships complete a comprehensive program that emphasizes musicianship, interpersonal skills and teaching proficiency. In this concentration, students learn about Voice with Jazz Studies.
