The Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil is a higher education institution that was created on May 17, 1962, at the request of the Pro-Universidad Católica Board, chaired by Mons. César Antonio Mosquera Corral, Archbishop of Guayaquil; the jurist Dr. Leonidas Ortega Moreira and Father Joaquín Flor Vásconez SJ, who were its founding authorities, as Grand Chancellor, First Rector and Counselor, respectively. The Constitutional President of the Republic, Dr. Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy, through the respective Executive Agreement No. 936, approved the statute, and the Ministry of Public Education authorized its operation by Resolution No. 1158. In 1967 the Institute of Education was created Technique for Development and as a Faculty from September 26, 1977, which included the Schools of Electricity and Telecommunications at the technology level. With the objective of responding to the social demands and the occupational market, and based on the needs and problems of the electrical and productive sector of the country, in the year 2000 the Electrical Engineering course of the Faculty of Technical Education began to function for the development.
The Electricity Engineering course is still in force and its academic offer is oriented towards the training of professionals who are trained to interact in the different functional stages of the electrical networks of power systems that contribute to guaranteeing electrical energy services at the level of medium and low voltage, in the field of design, construction, operation and maintenance, with added value in the study of renewable energies for the treatment of efficient use of energy and quality of electrical service, within a technical and ethical framework, which promote social development in a context of Christian inspiration and solid scientific knowledge, through the promotion and development in the academic and technological field, aimed at solving socio-economic and technical problems,trying to pay attention to the objectives of the energy and productive matrix of the country.

The documents that the applicant must present to enroll in the Admission Process (course and / or exam) are:

  • Color copy of citizenship card
  • Passport size photos (3)
  • Copy of the voting certificate (if applicable)
  • Copy of the endorsed degree certificate or notarized copy of the bachelor's degree or equivalent Certificate
  • Copy of the certificate of conduct issued by the College.
  • Psychological test taken at the UCSG Psychology Laboratory.  ENTER HERE  Does not apply to SNNA applicants
  • Copy of basic services form (water, electricity, or telephone).
  • Compliance with the English diagnostic test (carried out by the UCSG Language Center).

NOTE:  It is important that applicants bear in mind that being a standard-bearer, having a better bachelor's degree, having some type of scholarship or the acquisition of the Education Plan does not confer direct approval of the admission process or exempt from compliance with all the requirements.
