The Doctorate in Human Genetics (DGH) is aimed at training researchers, fostering their critical capacity and the development of technical and intellectual skills that a future doctor requires, which is in accordance with the dynamics of growth and development of Mexico that requires the consolidation of research as a permanent task of higher education institutions.
Human Genetics studies the physical-chemical-biological characteristics of the hereditary material of our species, the mechanisms of pathological transmission and the phenotypic effects of its variations. This is one of the areas of greatest development within biomedical sciences, since technological advances have deepened the knowledge of Classical Genetics, Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Population Genetics, Medical Genetics and Genetic Counseling, which has facilitated its application in medicine. The lines of research developed by the researchers who participate in the DGH are in accordance with the different areas of Human Genetics mentioned above.
The DGH has a long history in Human Resources Training at the University of Guadalajara, based on the quality of its teaching staff, lines of research, infrastructure, as well as the incorporation of its graduates to various institutions. research and/or higher education. Since its foundation, the DGH belongs to CONACYT's National Quality Postgraduate Program, which demonstrates the quality it has maintained in the training of Human Resources and its relevance for the growth and development of our University, our region and the country.
