The Doctorate program in Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary program that is organized into four general lines of knowledge application: Studies on communication, culture and subjectivities, Socioeconomic studies and social welfare, Studies on history and politics, Studies on sustainable development and markets labor.
The Doctorate program in Social Sciences at the University of Guadalajara has 29 years of experience in training high-level researchers in the field of social sciences; Since its creation, 194 people have graduated to date, with a terminal efficiency close to 90%. The last generation, number 15, entered in 2019. 98% of its students have been CONACYT scholarship holders.
Most of the graduates are carrying out research activities according to our follow-up of graduates and are members of the National System of Researchers at levels I, II and III. Even some of our foreign graduates who returned to their countries have received recognition from the SNI. In turn, some of our graduates have received national awards, for example recently the award for best doctoral thesis in social sciences 2019 by the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
The commitment of our doctoral program to continuous improvement and postgraduate quality has allowed it to have been evaluated on 3 occasions by the National Council for Science and Technology with the highest category with the level of international competition; its last evaluation was in 2016. The entire Basic Academic Nucleus belongs to the SNI and 70% is located at levels II, III and Emeritus, which reflects its high academic production and participation in research and national and international events. The last reform to the Curriculum was formalized in December 2018.
