It is undeniable that the contradictions, new values ​​and enigmas that arise from the interrelation between advanced technology and the particular problems of a developing nation, require fostering and generating critical, creative, and sensitive thinking in the face of paradoxes. of the present. It is in the humanities where the pedagogical tools and the theoretical-critical-methodological perspective are concentrated to study, explain and provide the keys to human endeavor within the framework of its historicity. The humanist has the possibility, therefore, of social commitment and the ethical and moral duty to face the new challenges of the present, establishing the link between local problems and global dynamics. The Master's Degree in Critical Language Studies, embedded in the framework of the humanities, addresses these challenges. 


The Master's Degree in Critical Language Studies is a postgraduate course with a school-based modality, oriented towards research, considering that studying, analyzing and understanding language is promoting complex, analytical, reflective thinking, capable of recognizing problems, proposing solutions and generating relevant knowledge. to global and local demands. For this reason, it assumes language in its broad complexity as its axis and object of study: as a literary art, as a mother tongue and second language, as a linguistic system, as a space for dialogue and knowledge of the other and the other. Its study requires placing it within the framework of the various ideologies and specific sociocultural environments that reveal its vitality and undeniable metamorphosis. From a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, which reflects the concerns raised here, it proposes three areas of specialization, which will guide the training of the postgraduate student:

  • Bachelor's degree or degree certificate and proof of completion of social service degree in Literature, Latin American Literature, Philosophy, History, Liberal Arts, Communication Sciences, and related disciplines, in accordance with the criteria established by the Board academic.
  • Have a minimum average of 80 in undergraduate studies endorsed with the certificate.
  • Submit a Research Protocol that is linked to one of the specialization orientations offered by the Master's Degree in Critical Language Studies.
  • Two letters of recommendation issued by academics or professionals whose professional career is linked to the training field of the Master's Degree.
  • Have full time during the studies.
  • Submit a letter explaining reasons addressed to the Academic Board to take the program.
  • Demonstrate a minimum B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR) preferably in the English language or its equivalent.
  • Approve the other requirements published in the respective call.
