The Master's Degree in Anthropology at the University of Guadalajara is a research-oriented academic program in the humanities area. It is developed in a school modality with a duration of 4 semesters (2 years), which requires full-time dedication from students in order to strengthen quality training and obtain the degree by completing a thesis. The program will be offered biannually, at the end of each generation a call for new entrants will be opened. The headquarters of the master's degree is the Centro Universitario del Norte (CUNorte) of the University of Guadalajara, in Colotlán, Jalisco.   This postgraduate degree is an opportunity to continue the training process of high-level professionals, teachers and researchers, taking advantage of the potential of CUNORTE's human and infrastructure resources. It is important to note that many professionals and researchers from related areas of knowledge have converged in Anthropology and are interested in academic training in this field, therefore, the Master's degree promotes greater interaction with other specialists through research projects. interdisciplinary intervention.   Currently, numerous anthropological problems at a regional, national and international level require a scientific approach that allows us to understand them, among them: the study and management of archaeological heritage, the rescue of intangible cultural heritage (customs, traditions, languages, ways of life), the processes of social change and, in general, the complex dynamics of the sociocultural processes that generate human groups. These phenomena raise the need for the training of highly trained professionals for research and teaching. In this framework, the graduate of the master's degree will be sufficiently qualified to join as a professional in areas linked to anthropological work, such as, for example, the design and implementation of regional development programs, social programs, heritage and museography; cultural management and the design and implementation of public policies in social areas, health, education, housing and development.   The Master's Degree in Anthropology aims to consolidate itself as a solid training option in the northern region of Jalisco and southern Zacatecas, an environment that is constituted, due to its sociocultural characteristics, as a natural laboratory for anthropological research. From this perspective, it is one of the many territories in Mexico that has an original indigenous population in which traditions and customs survive, it also has a rich mestizo ranchero tradition, distinctive for its cultural expressions related to the charrería. Likewise, the practice of religious manifestations of a popular and festive nature most of the year gives cohesion to the different communities and towns of the region. These are all phenomena typical of the study of Anthropology that, through the knowledge generated in this Master's degree through basic and applied research, will allow the region to implement proposals and strategies for its development.   This postgraduate program is characterized by the level of excellence of its basic academic core, made up of full-time professors and researchers, mostly doctors, with a consolidated track record in each LGAC. It is committed to strengthening the intercultural perspective in its contents, promoting community engagement through field work and intervention projects derived from research, as well as internationalization, an immediate objective that will allow the theoretical-methodological structure to be strengthened. of the program. All of this to strengthen the graduation profile of our students and increase the chances of them successfully entering the labor market.   An example of the program's commitment to academic excellence is that it adjusts to the quality parameters of institutions such as the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT), which will allow all students who enter to apply for a National Scholarship for Studies. of Postgraduate studies before CONACyT.
