The graduate program of the Master of Science in Architecture was approved for its creation on December 15, 1995 and is focused on the management of ideas and proposals that make up the Conservation of the Built Heritage and the History of Mexican Architecture in its contexts. both temporal and geographical, as well as in the implementation of research projects; using various educational strategies, some with theoretical approaches and others with practical guidelines, aimed at learning the knowledge required for the accreditation of the different subjects of the curriculum, aiming with this, that the teacher finds agreement between teaching methods and acquisition. of knowledge.
It was part of the defunct National Quality Postgraduate Program (PNPC) as a quality postgraduate program from 2016 to 2023 and is currently within the postgraduate register of the National Postgraduate System (SNP) of CONHACYT. Its basic academic staff consists of a permanent work group, as well as guest professors from national universities such as the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, El Colegio de Jalisco, the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and the University of Guanajuato, the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, Autonomous University of Querétaro and with international universities such as the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, this with the purpose of generating and maintaining the necessary dynamics for the collaboration and exchange of ideas and projects both among students and between teaching staff and researchers..
This is intended to provide new instruments and methods for the critical study of conservation and the history of architecture, which today are in transition, considering new ways of approaching conservation, restoration and historical research of architecture.
The program has two terminals or orientations developed from a common trunk, these are:
 
  • Conservation of Mexican Heritage  
  • History of Mexican Architecture

 
It is contemplated to be developed in four semesters and one more for the completion of the thesis, in a school-based modality with a focus on research in two orientations, each with its own program and a common core.
