MSc in Behavioral Science (Behavior Analysis)

The Master's program in Behavioural Science with a focus on Behaviour Analysis is developed over a period of 4 semesters (24 months).
After this period, the General Postgraduate Regulations of the University of Guadalajara establish a maximum ordinary period of 1 year to obtain the degree of MASTER IN BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE.
The program is structured into 3 training axes that extend throughout the 4 semesters with clearly differentiated objectives. Before breaking down the academic objectives established for each of the semesters in the program, the general purpose of these axes is mentioned:
SUPERVISED RESEARCH: Train the student in the skills required for the generation of knowledge. To do this, the student joins a tutor's laboratory from the beginning of the program. The training is divided into two periods: 1) the student participates in a tutor's project and "hand in hand" approaches the knowledge generation process and 2) it subsequently begins, in the originally assigned laboratory or in any other laboratory chosen., to the development of research to obtain the degree under the supervision of its director and thesis committee. DIRECTED STUDY: The aim is to achieve two objectives: 1) to provide students, during the first 2 semesters of the program, with the theoretical bases of Behavior Analysis, which allow them to approach with conceptual solidity the study of the phenomena under investigation during their research project and 2) in the last two semesters the aim is for students to stay updated regarding the phenomena that, at the time they are studying the program, are receiving greater attention at an international level in the field of Analysis of the Conduct. PROSEMINAR: Bring students closer to the knowledge generated by other laboratories of national and international prestige, through short courses taught by those responsible for these laboratories. This axis is carried out with a double objective: 1) to know what and how they approach the knowledge generation process, as well as the results obtained in other laboratories and 2) to create future links with those laboratories that promote both the realization of reciprocal research stays such as collaborative research development. THESIS SEMINAR: During the fourth semester, the student must work on writing the thesis that will culminate in its presentation before a tribunal to obtain the degree of Master in Behavioral Science. The Thesis Seminar subject will have the function of monitoring the progress of the writing, with continuous and periodic feedback from the thesis committee. Additionally, during semesters 3 and 4, students must take two elective courses (one in each semester), with the following general purpose: OPTIONAL COURSE: Complement and strengthen the training of students that is required for the proper development of their research. For this purpose, these courses can be offered both by NAB professors and taken at other facilities of the University of Guadalajara or other Higher Education Institutions, with prior approval from the tutor responsible for the student and authorization from the Academic Board of the program.
