The Master's Degree in Mathematics Teaching (MEM) is a program of the Educational Mathematics Section of the CUCEI Mathematics Department, which is offered in face-to-face and distance learning. In 2016, the registration of the Master to the National Quality Postgraduate Program (PNPC) was renewed and the indication to include around 25% of the total time to professional practices is met, which implies the granting of scholarships to students by the Council National Institute of Science and Technology (CONACYT). In addition, the consolidated academic body (PRODEP) is a pioneer in offering alternative learning modalities at the University of Guadalajara (UDG).

With the MEM it is intended to train students under a conception of the teaching-learning of mathematics based on its historical development, experimentation in the classroom, the use of didactic resources, especially those available online in the different banks of Objects for Learning, the use of internet platforms, of tools such as the calculator and the computer, the psychology of the student and the epistemological processes that are developed in the students. With the knowledge of the learning process of mathematics, it is intended to sensitize students about the difficulty of teaching mathematical concepts.

The MEM is served by the Advanced Educational Mathematics Academic Body, and it also has external collaborators, both from the University itself and from institutions with which it has collaboration agreements. Its members have accumulated more than 30 years of experience in the development of programs aimed at training and updating mathematics teachers at different levels (it began in 1984, at the Regional Center for Educational Technology).
The Master's attempts to involve students in the development of their research project, from the entrance to the preparatory course of the program, with the intention of attending to their training as researchers and collaborating in the development of the lines of the program, aimed at solving the problems that are observed in your professional environment, not merely improve your practice. In this way, it seeks to encourage them to complete their thesis project and maintain high terminal efficiency of the Master's degree.
