To train professionals capable of contributing effectively and creatively to the solution of the development problems of the country and the region. Act as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, analysis, and discussion of development issues in the country. To become an instrument to achieve the vision of the UVG in terms of contributing to the solution of national problems, making use of the growing academic infrastructure installed and its place as an elite academic center at the national level.

COMPETENCIES OF THE GRADUATE
The graduates of the postgraduate and master's degrees in the development of the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala are professionals who have theoretical and practical tools to measure the fulfillment of indicators in the short, medium, and long term, in addition to the degree of contribution of a policy, program or project. Likewise, to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate interventions that expand people's capacities, through appropriate methodologies that generate evidence for decision-making in government, NGOs, international organizations, and other areas.
