The Master in Control of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (MCEIT) is a program of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine (IMTAvH) of the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University (UPCH) in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine (FAMED), the Faculty of Health Public and Administration (FASPA) and the Víctor Alzamora Castro Postgraduate School (EPGVAC). The MCEIT includes a progressive degree in which students take the Diploma in Operations Research and Implementation Science with a mention in HIV in the first three cycles and obtain an additional certification. The MCEIT has been licensed by SUNEDU (The National Superintendence of Higher University Education) since 2016 and since 2022, in its distance learning modality.
Latin America has a high burden of infectious and tropical diseases that can be prevented and treated. The impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has shown the fragility of our health systems and the need for professionals who critically review the scientific evidence, generate high-quality local scientific evidence, and implement prevention strategies. and efficient and timely control.
UPCH is the first Peruvian university in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2022 ranking and the Peruvian university with the most publications by Peruvian researchers, according to the II Biennial Report on the University Reality in Peru carried out by SUNEDU.
The IMTAvH is a research center internationally recognized for its extensive experience in research and training of health professionals. The MCEIT has professors and researchers who are experts at the global, regional and local levels in infectious and tropical diseases.
