The Graduate Program in Public Health offered by the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (FMRP–USP) was created in 1971, with the name “Postgraduate in Preventive Medicine”. From the year 2000 onwards, the Program underwent a wide reformulation, taking on its current name. Since its creation, it has been linked to the Department of Social Medicine (DMS) of FMRP–USP.

The objective of the Graduate Program in Public Health is to train researchers and professors in the field of public health, capable of generating new knowledge and training professionals committed to contributing to the general improvement of the health and living conditions of the population, at the local level, nationally and globally, from an environmentally sustainable perspective.

The program caters to a multidisciplinary clientele that includes physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, nutritionists, speech therapists, biologists, biomedics, biostatisticians, physiotherapists, social workers, and other professionals connected to the health area.
