The objective of the " Soil management and ecosystem services " course is to train professionals with in-depth and sufficiently exhaustive knowledge of the soil in its various dimensions: physical, chemical and biological functioning, laws of spatial distribution, genesis and evolution, degradation, rehabilitation, conservation and enhancement. The training also aims to acquire a set of skills relating to analysis and simulation tools suitable for understanding, diagnosing and predicting the functioning of soils, evaluating the ecosystem services they ensure, to the study of their spatial distribution and their evolution. It is therefore above all a question of training true soil specialists, with an in-depth knowledge of its multifunctionality vis-à-vis ecosystems and societies. The soil is therefore not only approached as a factor in agricultural or forestry production, but also as a regulator of the climate and the hydrological cycle, a pollution attenuator, a recycler of waste, a reservoir of biodiversity, etc.
