The field of optics / photonics, the science of light, is booming and involves a large number of interdisciplinary activities in health, environment, energy, transport, telecommunications with significant economic and societal benefits. Optics / photonics plays a key role in fundamental discoveries and in new technologies, with theoretical and experimental aspects. Photonics is considered by the European Commission as one of the “Key Enabling Technologies (KET)” which are increasingly driving innovation today and will continue to drive innovation in the future. The master's degree in Photonics Engineering, Nanophotonics and Biophotonics aims to offer students a solid background in the different areas of photonics, increasingly important in today's and tomorrow's new technologies. This master's degree offers an extensive programme in photonics, covering fundamental aspects and also advanced research and its interdisciplinary applications. The two years master programme (120 total credits, distributed into 60 credits each year) is organised by different institutions, each one recognised for its high level of research in the field of optics and photonics and their applications.
