The eight-semester "International Bachelor's Degree in Southeast Asian Languages ​​and Cultures" has three main areas: "Austronesian Languages ​​and Cultures", "Language and Culture of Thailand" and "Language and Culture of Vietnam". It also offers in-depth knowledge of a main language of mainland or island Southeast Asia (Bahasa Indonesia, Thai or Vietnamese), solid basic knowledge of a second language of the target region rounds off the language profile.


The main goal of the course is to learn Southeast Asian languages ​​and the ability to place them in their social, historical and cultural context. In the regional modules, knowledge of regional studies, literature, culture and society of both traditional and modern Southeast Asia is imparted. During a one-semester stay abroad in the target region, the students gain international experience, knowledge of the country and communicative skills.
