The Ph.D. is essentially an in-depth basic research program.

The educational activities are oriented towards the development of the student's thesis project.

The Faculty provides students with specialists in all major areas of law.

Co-supervision, provided by two professors, is quite common, because it makes it possible to call on complementary expertise.

An admitted student is assured of quality supervision in a stimulating environment; it has access to a prestigious library, significant computer resources, financial support from the institution and other granting agencies.

The Doctor of Laws provides training in legal research. Writing the thesis aims to develop the ability to design and implement a large-scale research project that makes an original contribution to the development of the legal discipline.

The program aims to train a lawyer:
1 - who has knowledge of the fundamental elements specific to the different areas of law; 2 - who has developed an integrated approach to legal problems and their solutions; 3 - who masters the skills specific to the legal method, in particular: proceed to the legal qualification of concrete situations; locate, consult and update documentation; master oral and written argumentative discourse; 4 - who is autonomous and able to adapt to changes and to become an agent of his own permanent legal education; 5 - who is able to identify the relationships between law and society and integrate them into the process of legal conflict resolution; 6 - which adopts a critical approach that takes into account the plurality of conceptual approaches in the law and on the law; 7 - who is aware of his social responsibilities, as an intellectual and professional, respects ethics compatible with these and is aware of extrajudicial methods of conflict resolution.
