The audiologist is the health specialist best suited to intervene with people of all ages with hearing or vestibular problems. His expertise allows him to:
  • prevent hearing problems and falls;
  • promote hearing health;
  • assess the hearing of people of all ages and specify the nature of their hearing problems, if any;
  • to assess the functions of the vestibular system of people with balance problems;
  • to help people with hearing disorders and those around them to reduce the obstacles related to these disorders by means such as the use of hearing aids or hearing aids, the adaptation of environment, acoustic design and implementation of communication strategies;
  • identify ways to help people with balance problems to reduce the inconveniences associated with their vestibular disorders.


The general objective of this program is to develop the skills necessary for the professional practice of audiology with various clienteles, ranging from newborns to the elderly. The mission is to meet the hearing and vestibular health needs of the population.

Admission requirements

To be eligible as a regular student for the professional master's degree in audiology, the candidate must:
  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Academic Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, neurosciences, cognitive neurosciences or related fields
  • have successfully completed the following prerequisite courses or a course deemed equivalent: PHL1400 Statistical Methods in Biomedical Sciences, PSY1095 Child Development or PSY2254 Maturity and Aging, LNG1400 Notions of Phonetics and Phonology, AUD1131 Anatomy and Physiology – Hearing, Balance, Phonation, AUD 1132 Psychoacoustics and Speech Perception and a course in Human Physiology, such as PSL3062 Neural Basis of Brain Function
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
  • demonstrate a good knowledge of French and English. All candidates must attest to a knowledge of the French language reaching the degree that the University considers minimum to engage in the program. To this end, he must have passed the Uniform French Language and Literature Test of the Quebec Ministry of Education or obtain a score of at least 850/990 on the International French Test (TFI).
  • take the CASPer online exam (TECT test) assessing cross-curricular competencies.
  • in the past two years, have done at least 20 hours of volunteer work with children under 12 or 20 hours with seniors or have experience in the labor market or in the context of internships with these customers. The candidate must ask the institution where the volunteering/employment/internship was carried out to complete the Attestation of experience form and he must upload it to his Student Center in Synchro.
