The MA in German Studies covers varied aspects of German-speaking civilizations such as culture, history, politics, society, economy, and the German language. It allows 2 paths:

  • the thesis program, which is intended for students who aspire to a career in research or post-secondary education;
  • the course with directed work, which is intended for students who are aiming for a professional career.

Training in teaching German is also offered through a seminar and an internship. All the options allow to continue studies in the 3rd cycle program.


The M. A (German studies) introduces the student to research and is a necessary condition for admission to the Ph. D. (literature).


Option German literature. It also prepares for a professional activity in college education, in government agencies, as well as in public and private institutions and companies. The MA offers comprehensive training in one of the program orientations.
Orientation German literature and media Basic training through seminars and specialization through a dissertation or a tutorial in the field of German literature and media.
Orientation civilization and history of German-speaking countries Basic training through seminars and specialization through a dissertation or a directed work in the field of the cultural and social history of Germany or German-speaking countries.
