Master's in Linguistics

The program is aimed at people who are interested in language in all its aspects.

It allows you to deepen your knowledge of theoretical linguistics and to specialize in one of three key areas: neurolinguistics, sociolinguistics and computational linguistics. It offers a lot of flexibility and can lead to doctoral studies or the labor market.

Goals: The master's program in linguistics aims to introduce students to scientific research and to deepen their knowledge in one of the fields of linguistics.

Strengths:

• The  Phonetic Science Laboratory, focused on experimental approaches to the study of oral language processes and paralegal applications of phonetics.
• The Sense-Text Linguistic Observatory (OLST), at the intersection of linguistics, information sciences, terminology and didactics.
• The Sociolinguistics Laboratory, which hosts a corpus on the varieties of French spoken in Quebec and Ontario, and on Picard.
• A Research Chair in Interdisciplinary Studies on Rhythm and Language Acquisition, at the cutting edge of work on the links between music, movement and children's language skills.
• Professors involved in work related to the most recent developments in neurolinguistics, theoretical and computational linguistics, lexicography, sociolinguistics, etc.
