With its six options, the doctorate in literature allows you to carry out research independently in a field that interests you.
Goals: Through a thesis that demonstrates a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge in one of the six options of the Ph.D. (literature), the student must demonstrate his ability to conduct independent research.

The electronic journal Post-Scriptum.org, entirely managed by the Department's master's and doctoral students.
A faculty team that has created international research networks. Their works on literature and other forms of cultural expression come from many areas including China, Japan, Canada, Germany, Italy, the United States as well as French-speaking, Slavic, Latin- Americans and Arabs.
The Interuniversity Research Center on Digital Humanities is based at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Montreal and brings together more than 28 professors from our institution.

To be eligible as a regular Ph.D. student (literature), the candidate must:

meet the general eligibility requirements (section XI of the Academic Regulations) for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
have obtained, in the 2nd cycle, an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
