This program aims to train for secondary education students who already hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.


The master's degree in education, secondary education option is intended for holders of a bachelor's degree who have acquired a minimum of 45 credits in the targeted discipline. The program is aimed both at students who are employed by a school service center or a private educational institution, and at students without employment ties. Practical training integrated with training in didactics, educational psychology and the foundations of education promotes successful professional integration, implementation of professional skills related to the exercise of the profession, adaptation of relevant knowledge to the context of the teaching and preparation for the multifaceted role of the teacher vis-à-vis students, parents and the community.

To be eligible as a student for the master's in education, secondary education option, the candidate must:
  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Academic Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (RPESP);
  • hold an undergraduate degree adequately preparing for the studies they wish to undertake, i.e. in connection with the disciplinary training of the Basic school regulation for secondary education in question, or attest to a training deemed equivalent
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the home university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if it is higher. In the case of a bachelor's degree obtained by accumulation, the average will be calculated on the disciplinary portion related to the disciplinary training of the Basic school regulation for secondary education in question;
  • submit to the written French diagnostic test recognized or administered by the University (TFLM). In the event of failure, the student must pass, outside the program, the refresher course(s) prescribed by the Faculty, DID1009-Grammar for future teachers and/or DID1010-French writing for future teachers. A double failure during DID1009 or DID1010 leads to the end of the application.
