Bachelor's Degree in French-Language Literature and Philosophy

The links between philosophy and French literature have always been very close. From Montaigne to Descartes via Blanchot, Derrida, Montesquieu and Diderot… there are many philosopher-writers and writer-philosophers.

One could even say that the French literary tradition is inseparable from philosophy. One cannot, for example, approach the prose of ideas of the 18th century  without studying the philosophical thought of the Enlightenment. Similarly, the study of Modernities would be difficult to conceive without the joint contribution of literature and philosophy.

It is in this spirit that this program integrates French-language literature and philosophy. It aims to marry ethics and aesthetics, creation and criticism, sensitivity and reason in a multidisciplinary perspective.
The program allows students to acquire a good general education in both disciplines as well as training specifically designed to develop critical thinking, the spirit of synthesis, the capacity for analysis and the quality of expression. In addition, this program makes it possible to acquire solid historical bases.
